Angling Professional League (APL) anglers reel in prizes
“Thank you to all our major sponsors, officials and members for a resoundingly successful season. The 2018/2019 season had its cast off today,” said APL management on the day.
The Angling Professional League (APL) recently acknowledged its top anglers.
At the conclusion of League 1 at Sandford at the end of August, APL management presented trophies, awards and incentives to the winners in the various categories.
The top team was Ladysmith Angling Club.

This team dominated the previous season by winning the VME League and the AA Tours Grand Challenge, losing out in the Transnat Knock Out to Breakwaters AC.
Titleholders for the season included:
Rishen Nankoo of Ladysmith AC – Heaviest Scaled Fish.
Valentino Murugan of Ladysmith AC – Heaviest Non Scaled Fish.
Abhay Jawair of Stillwaters AC – Junior Angler of the Year.
Veruschka Boodhoo of Stillwaters AC – Lady Angler of the Year.
Dan Govinder of Ladysmith AC – Senior Angler of the Year.
Monty Slabbert of Breakwaters AC – Angler of the Year.
Monty was also handed a tackle voucher to the value of R3 000 for his efforts.

Other anglers who received additional prizes were Rishen, with a bonus R500 for his catch exceeding four kilogrammes, and Valentino with an extra R500 for his catch being over 10kg.
