Local wrestlers take the glory at regional champs
"Our guys showed sportsmanship and a positive attitude which seemed to rub off on to their teammates," commented coach, Steven Brown.
The seven members of the Rhino Wrestling Club made up the heart of the SA Regional Wrestling Championships held in Alberton earlier this month.
Wrestlers from KZN, Eastern Gauteng and Mpumalanga competed with the seven local wrestlers bagging five medals for their province.
Theuns van der Merwe and JC Botha won gold medals.
Kyle Senekal won a silver medal while Leonard Kruger and Louis la Grange won bronze medals.

Donovan Stander and Louis la Grange made their debuts for KZN wrestling. “They wrestled like old hands against more experienced opponents and did not disappoint. A lot is expected from these two gutsy debutants for the future,” said Steven.
