Tennis players ace the competition at St Dominic’s Newcastle
After a hectic few hours on the courts under a blazing sun, the winners and runners-up in the red and orange categories were announced, and received their prizes from Wilson Tennis.
Tennis players had a literal blast on Saturday at St Dominic’s Newcastle.
St Dominics stalwart, Alison Marillier explained the Curro Blast tournaments were hosted once or twice a year, for players of varying skill levels.
“We started with the red ball for novices, then the orange ball for those who can serve and play. The green ball is for what we consider a normal player.”
After a hectic few hours on the courts under a blazing sun, the winners and runners-up in the red and orange categories were announced, and received their prizes from Wilson Tennis.
Congratulations to the following players:
Red – Simon Bezuidenhout was the winner, followed by Karabo Shabalala in second position.
Orange – Divan Swart claimed first position overall, with Phiwa Sithebe in second place.
Members of the tennis fraternity thanked the players for their support, St Dominics for the facilities and sponsors for the wonderful prizes.
The green ball competition was postponed until further notice.
They also congratulated Pretoria visitor, Caleb Donsignore on his form and Srikar Mohunram for competing in both tournaments.
