SPCA Golf Day a huge success

The SPCA thanked the golf club for allowing them to make use of the facilities, all the golfers for supporting the day and all the sponsors for helping ensure that the day was a great success.

The annual SPCA charity golf day, held on Saturday at Dundee CC, was once again a huge success, which saw 56 players taking part.
Thanks must go to Desiree Du Toit and her fundraising committee for the outstanding job they did to ensure that all the golfers who turned up to support this worthy charity, had an enjoyable and successful day.
Winning the better ball stableford competition with an outstanding 49 points was the pairing of Mandla Mthethwa and Hlengiwe Hlongwane. Dave Donaldson and his partner Wessel Odendaal finished in second place on 47 points, while Jo Khumalo and Cyril Mkwanazi scored 46 points to take home the third place prize.
The prize for the men’s longest drive on the 17th hole went to Brett Meyer and Naomi Van Huyssteen won the ladies longest drive prize. Novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to; D. Scholtz No.4, C. Mkhwanazi No.8, J. Schar No.12 and G. Seata on the 16th hole. Willie Maritz took home the prize for closest for two on the 18th hole.

NKZN Men’s League
The curtain came down on the 2018 NKZN Men’s league fixtures on Sunday, and unfortunately, all four of the Dundee CC teams succumbed to huge defeats at the hands of their respective opponents. The ‘A1’ team lost 2-10 against Newcastle, the ‘A2’ side lost 4-8 to Kilbarchan, while the ‘B1’ team went down 3-9 to Newcastle with the ‘B2’ losing 12-0 against the B league winners Vryheid.
Dave’s Wednesday Competition
Dave’s Wednesday competition saw seven players competing last Wednesday with Mandla Mthethwa managing to beat Kevin Donaldson on a count out to take home first prize after both players scored 23 points. Forthcoming dates to diarise; Saturday 6th October, Monthly Mug Medal for October, Saturday 13th October, Dundee Pre-Primary School Golf Day. All golf members are reminded that the Golf A.G.M. will take place on Wednesday, October 10 at 18h00.

The SPCA Golf Day is also an opportunity to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Tertius and Nash from Mortimer Toyota Dundee did just that with Jackie and Suhana while promoting the new Toyota Rush.

Mandla Mthethwa and Hlengiwe Hlongwane swung their way to the win and were awarded their prizes by Bonga Ndlovu, Desiree Du Toit and Ayanda Ntuli of the SPCA.
