Rugby tour concludes on a high note for Estcourt players
Besides the exhilarating wins on the rugby field, the team got to take in the sights in Ireland
Memories to last a lifetime were made for three Estcourt lads who toured Ireland as part of a rugby team. Tiaan Steynvaart, Brian Penniston and Courtney Twiddle, who play rugby for the Drakensberg Rugby Club were selected to be part of the tour and departed for Ireland on September 18.

After a 16-hour flight, the team touched down in Dublin.
This was when their dream became a reality. The team played three games in Ireland and although they got off to a disappointing start after losing their first match, they quickly regrouped, recovered and were ready for their next two games.

Brian Penniston said that the next two games resulted in two big wins.
“The biggest win was beating UL University of Limerick 45-10,” he said.
Besides the exhilarating wins on the rugby field, the team got to take in the sights in Ireland. They visited three cities where they got to see how Guinness is made as well as visit whisky factories, like Jameson and Parish. One of the highlights of the sightseeing was visiting the great castles in Dublin.
“We got to kiss the stone in one of the castles, many people dream of doing this,” said Mr Penniston.
The team also visited the Munster rugby stadium. The Estcourt trio convey their appreciation to the team and management for what they describe as a ‘great tour’.
