Twenty-seven golfers turned up at Dundee C.C. on Saturday to compete in the Monthly Mug Medal competition for October, and the golfers were not only spoilt by a warm spring day but were able to enjoy a spit-braai after prizegiving, which was kindly sponsored by Devin McAlpine, a past captain of the club who is out here on holiday from New Zealand.

Gene Robson won the Men’s A division Mug with a net 67, three shots clear of Jo Khumalo who finished on a net 70. However, it was Jo who won the prize for the Best Gross score on the day with his round of 74.
After recording a disappointing double bogey on the 18th hole, golf captain Barry Sandy still managed to hold on to win the Men’s B division Mug by two shots over Nico Rose, after scoring a net 69 and end his term as Captain on a high.
The Ladies B division saw both Debbie Catlett and Vlooi Slabbert finishing with a net 75, and these two ladies will play-off for the October Mug in next month’s event, while Dolly Bradbury won the Ladies C division Mug.
Five players managed to record a 2 Club on the short par three’s, and they were; M. Schutte and S. Sithole at the 12th and then G. Robson, R. Streak and J. Khumalo all recorded their 2 club’s at the 16th hole.

Dave’s Wednesday competition and the Friday Chicken-Run were both poorly attended last week, with only two players participating on Wednesday and three players in the Friday competition.
Dundee Pre-Primary School will be holding their Annual Golf Day this Saturday, October 13, a 4 B.B.B.S. Scramble drive format, so golfers are requested to book their times with The Pro Shop, 034-218100.
