Bowlers make the cut for provincial teams
President’s team, to play in the Quadrangular Tournament in Margate next year: Sue Hutchinson, Dorothy Crosbie and Lindsay Steele.
Vryheid Bowling Club hosted the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls (KZNCB) Presidents Cup last weekend, which served as the final trials for the selection of teams to represent the district in the 2019 Inter Provincial competitions.

The Men’s Division was won by the B team, followed by the A team, Senior team and finally the President’s team.
The Senior team headed the women’s section, with the B team next, then the A and President’s teams.
Selectors then announced the final teams.
Newcastle players to be selected for the 2019 Provincial teams:
Open A: Samantha Shaw, Michelle Steele and John Douthwaite.
Open B: Douglas Steele and Stephen Shaw.
Senior: Marie Botha and Trevor Douthwaite.

The monthly FedAuto meat competition was played on Saturday, with Billy Nicholas, Lukas Niemand, Denise Phillips and Mike Hartman the winners, followed by Joan Schoon, Mike Martens, Graham Robinson and Alex Zaal.
The District Senior Singles competitions get underway this weekend, with the Northern zone leg being played in Dundee.
