Nan crowned KZNCB Senior Singles winner

KZNCB Senior Singles
This past weekend four of the senior bowlers, Nan Roos, Brian Hesom and Dougie and Essie Slabbert travelled to Volksrust to compete in the KZNCB Northern Zone Senior Singles Competition. Weather conditions proved to be extremely tough with driving rain hampering play on the Saturday with only two of the three rounds played. Play resumed again on the Sunday morning once again in gloomy conditions. In the Men’s section Dougie made it through to the last eight but unfortunately could not overcome Ron Howe from Newcastle, going down 21-13.
In the Ladies section, Nan played Margaret van Heusden from Vryheid in the semi-final and managed to beat her 21-15. Nan then met Johanna Braack from Volksrust in the final. Nan went on to beat Johanna 21-8 and earned herself the title of KZNCB Senior Singles winner.
ATKV Business League
The third and fourth games of the ATKV Business League were played this past Thursday evening. It was the perfect evening for bowls with many enjoying the warmth on offer which in turn kept the refreshments coming thanks to the wonderful bar staff. The leaderboard has changed somewhat compared to the previous rounds played with things looking quite tight at the top.
The leaderboard as follows: Queen B’s 8 +25; Buffalo Coal Calcine 8 +18; Buffalo Coal Aug 6 +24; Langfontein 6 +22.
Please remember that the ATKV will be collecting non-perishable items for the NCVV Service Centre in Glencoe as well as pet food for the Dundee SPCA so please bring along a non-perishable food item or pet food which will be distributed to the beneficiaries. Remember too that dinner will be for sale on each of the nights.

KZNCB Open Singles
The Dundee Bowling Club will play host to the KZNCB Northern Zone Open Singles Competition this coming weekend. A total of around thirty bowlers or more from clubs like Newcastle, Vryheid, Piet Retief and Volksrust are expected to descend on to the Dundee greens. The Club would like to wish its members all the very best in both the hosting of the competition and in play. Come down to the Club and be treated to some good quality bowls.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting of Dundee Sports Club (Bowls) will be held on October 24, at 6pm at the Club.
Motions for discussion must be submitted in writing and handed to Mrs Sylvia Malan, Club President, at least seven days prior to the meeting.
