Green and gold jackets for novice karate stars

Local novice karateka have been waiting in anticipation for the arrival of the green and gold jackets which signify their National Colours in the sport of JKA karate.
This despite the fact that those who achieved first, second, third and fourth places at the South African JKA Karate Tournament held in May earlier this year could not represent South Africa at the second JKA Africa Cup Tournament held in Johannesburg recently, as this competition was only for Elite karateka.
The following are all novice karateka (white to red belts) who performed well under pressure at the JKA National Championships: Abigail Weber, Adiya Singh, Aiyana Singh, Anele Mchunu, Aphile Makamo, Celiwe Zibula, Chelsea de Wet, Christopher Smit, Cody Spence, Dawie de Bruin, Duane Strecker, Emily Weber, Eunice Kemp, Evan Bohmer, Fiona Mngomezulu, Hayley Wentzel, Herman Brits, Iwan Lindeque, Jaydine Koekemoer, Jessica Geyser, Keanu Rademan, Kelsey Kemp, Lara Meyre, Lilandie Coetzee, Luyanda Mbonani, Marine de Plessis, Marjohane Swart, Megan Gallie, Michelle Janssens, Muhammed Rehan Kader, Nathan Kemp, Nicole Wessels, Nokukanya Mbonani, Nour Raddadi, Paulos Gebeyehu, Priya Luckraj, Robert McCann, Spencer Kok, Stefan Potgieter, Tristin Goddard, Urav Buldoo, Xean Rothman, Xian Meyer, Zana Spencer and Zander Pieters.
They were also awarded a certificate which was handed out at their respective grading, together with the National JKA karate jackets.
The local karate fraternity will look to these up-and-coming karateka to continue with the sport that is JKA karate, ensuring the growth and survival of a sport that is not only growing in South Africa as a pastime, but also as part of a lifestyle change in terms of respect, acceptance and understanding of the versatility and diverse cultures all around the world.
