Bowls style Mayweather/Mc Gregor roll off… and it was all for charity
Mayweather reportedly earned over $300 million from his fight in August 2017 and McGregor, mixed martial arts (MMA) world champion pocketed over $100 million. The purse at the bowling club was slightly less but as Greg said.. far more important to the folk of Dundee and Glencoe who would benefit from a food parcel from their efforts.
It was a case of experience versus the exuberance of youth when a bowls challenge pitched veteran bowler, Greg Conolly, against the indefatigable Joff Davies, Chairman of Dundee Round Table.
The face-off on a steaming hot Saturday at the Dundee Bowling was part of the Dundee Bowling Club’s Family Day to collect food for various churches who will then present these to needy families in the run-up to Christmas.

Mayweather scored a technical knock in the 10th round against the young pretender. Greg was also given a good run for his money by Joff who seemed to find his focus after clearly bias commentary from the sidelines. The commentator, Monty Steele, was openly pro-Joff and he seemed to rally to the support coming back from 17-2 to finally go down 21-11 to Greg after 15 ends.
It was a great fun day and Greg thanked everyone for their support and for Joff for adding to the day which included an oldest versus youngest bowling club competition, a family face-off between the bowling Shaw and Steele families and the battle of the sexes.
