Joff reels in first place in R100 000 fishing competition
There were lots of big fish caught but ultimately there could only be one first prize winner of the scale category.
Docrats Angling Club hosted one of the biggest bank angling competitions on December 1 and 2 at Chelmsford dam.
The event saw anglers queuing as early as two weeks in advance to secure the best fishing spot. Prizes up for grabs were over R100 000.
Scale Category
- 1st prize winner, Joff Davies, reeled in a massive carp tipping the scales at 4.2kgs. Joff had to work hard to maintain 1st position and secured himself R30 000.
- 2nd place went to Aiden Praag with a carp of 4.050kgs,
- 3rd place Trevor Veran also with a carp of 4.050kgs.
Joff Davies won the Heaviest Scale fish and walked away with first prize of the scale category.
Non-scale category
- The non-scale category saw Xolani Mlaba catching himself a barbel weighing in at 7.350kgs and winning the 1st prize of R10 000.
- 2nd place Vern van Staden with a barbel of 6.600kg
- 3rd place Udien Govinder 6.050kg.
Junior Angler
Junior Angler went to Garren Hendriks he got a barbel weighing in at 3.2kg
Docrats angling club gave away a megamaster 500 gas braai valued at R5999.00 to a lucky ticket draw angler, and many more give away prizes.
