Massive carp lands lucky angler in top spot

The Junior Angler Title went to Garren Hendriks, who bagged a barbel weighing in at 3.2 kg.

Docrats Angling Club hosted one of the the biggest bank angling competitions at Ntshinwayo/ Chelmsford Dam on December 1 and 2 with anglers booking two weeks in advance, to secure the best fishing spots.

Cash prize money totalled more than R100 000, for the first prize winners in the various scale categories.

The lucky angler was Joff Davies who reeled in a massive carp which tipped the scales at 4.2 kilogrammes and took the first position which secured him R30 000. Second place went to Aiden Praag with a carp of 4.050 kg followed by Trevor Veran in third place.

The Non-scale category saw Xolani Mlaba landing himself a barbel weighing 7.350 kgs and winning the 1st prize of R10 000.

Second place went to Vern van Staden with a barbel of 6.600 kg and Udien Govinder came in third with 6.050 kg.

The Junior Angler Title went to Garren Hendriks, who bagged a barbel weighing in at 3.2 kg.

Docrats Angling Club gave away a Megmaster 500 gas braai valued at R5999 in a lucky ticket draw, along with many other prizes.
