Breakwaters tops VME log

Breakwaters are poised to win the VME League as they head the log table with 57 pts

With the hosting of the penultimate round of the VME League, Ladysmith Angling Club romped home at Sandford on December 9 with a convincing victory scoring 86 points over their rivals, Breakwaters who finished second with 66 pts, followed by a tie between Challengers and Stillwaters on 34 points, Dannhauser on 32 pts and Glencoe on 10 pts.

Breakwaters are poised to win the VME League as they head the log table with 57 pts; followed by Ladysmith (51 pts); Stillwaters (37 pts); Challengers (31 pts), Dannhauser (18 pts) and Glencoe (14 pts).

The “Angler of the Day” was Sikander Amod of Breakwaters scoring 14 pts winning an outright trophy, the red cap and R200 sponsored by Dannhauser AC.

The top three spots for the “APL Angler of Year” sees Sikander Amod on 48 pts; followed by Ramil Juggan (LAC on 44 points and Rajendra Garahoo (Challengers on 41 pts) with host of other anglers in contention for the coveted title with the winner scooping a fishing tackle voucher of R3 000 and family weekend at the prestigious Chimani Resort on the Vaal River.

The title contenders thus far:-  Haroon Bosman (LAC) (Heaviest Scaled Fish – carp of 4,374kg); Sagie Moodley (BAC) (Heaviest Non Scaled Fish – Barbel of 5,822kg); Ashley Baijnath (SAC) (Rare Specie – Kurper of 566g); Talia Boodhoo (SAC) (Junior and Lady Angler of the Year); Cyril Appalsamy (SAC) (Senior Angler of the Year) and Sikander Amod (BAC) (Angler of Year).

The next fixture of the APL is the Transnat Knock Out Semi Final which be held on 3 February 2019 at Richgate Park.  Ladysmith will take on Challengers while Breakwaters will be up against their sister club, Stillwaters AC, with the winners progressing to the finals.

Second registration period is currently opened for new members who wish to join the APL for the reminder of the season.
