Bowlers with hearts of gold

Bowlers bring joy to less fortunate

The festivities of Christmas and welcoming in 2019 are already a thing of the past and the bowlers can now shift their focus on to the many exciting things planned for the coming year.

The toys that were collected at the annual bowls toy run were handed out to the children at Dundee hospital on Saturday, December 22 bringing much joy to the sick children as well as the staff.

The members also came together that afternoon to play for chickens, however, play was cut short due to what seemed like a nasty storm approaching which blew away just as quickly as it arrived. Congratulations to Rita and Lyn on winning the day.

On New Year’s Eve, the bowlers got together once again, this time to welcome in the New Year. It was a festive evening with bowls being played up to the stroke of midnight, Jacques ensured that the bowlers didn’t go hungry with his delicious chicken curry potjie and Que the barman made sure everyone’s glasses were kept full.

The Club would like to wish its members and their families a healthy and prosperous 2019 and great bowling to all.
Upcoming events:
January 19-20: Northern Zone Men’s and Ladies Pairs in Dundee
January 26: U/15 and U/20 Squad Practice in Dundee
February 2-3: Quadrangular in Margate.

Any potential new bowlers are welcome to contact Greg Conolly (082 924 7788) or any committee member to try out your hand at this wonderful game.
