Anne is the oldest woman to complete her 100th parkrun in Newcastle
She achieved this milestone surrounded by friends, family and well-wishers.
Anne Brown has joined the elite members of the parkrun community.
This sprightly octogenarian completed her 100th parkrun at Grey Goose Game Lodge on December 29, and became the oldest woman in Newcastle to have completed a hundred parkruns.

She achieved this milestone surrounded by friends, family and well-wishers.
Only two family members of the 23 who travelled from across South Africa, and visited from Ireland, Australia and England, could not be there with her on the day.
Anne said their presence on her milestone parkrun made it extra special for her.
“I didn’t finish in a good time but it was a lovely walk and a nice experience, which is most important.”
Alongside her husband, Vintage Parkrunner Norman Brown, Anne takes daily walks of varying distances on their farm but said they did no specific training for parkrun. She enjoys the social aspect of it most of all.
Growing up in rural Transkei, Anne said there was much walking to be done and she has always loved getting out and about for a leisurely walk.

Asked why it was important to join in, she promoted the social nature of the event.
“If you enjoy running it’s a beautiful venue and a pleasant morning. It’s important to get out there and walk and it becomes the highlight of the week.”
While she has not set a new parkrun target, Anne admitted she would continue looking forward to the next run, and as long as fitness prevailed would keep moving forward.
“Our family thinks it’s hilarious to see two old crocks going off every Saturday,” she laughed.
