Good start for Dundee league golfers
This coming Saturday will see not only the Monthly Mug Medal competition for February but also the Mug of Mugs for 2018.

On Sunday Dundee Country Club hosted the opening round of the N. KZN Men’s golf league fixtures for 2019, and three of the four Dundee teams got off to a good start by recording victories over their respective opponents.
The ‘A’ team were up against a strong Kilbarchan side, and leading 4-0 after the morning foursomes went on to beat their opponents 9-3 after both Sifiso Kunene and Jo Khumalo easily won their singles matches. The ‘B1’ team of M Mthethwa, C Chawanda, A Mbatha and C Mkhwanazi ran out very comfortable winners when ‘white-washing’ Kilbarchan B 12-0.
The ‘B2’ team played in a local derby match against neighbours Glencoe and were the only Dundee team not to start their season off with a win when just managing to avoid a ‘white-wash’ when finishing on the wrong end of the 11-1 scoreline.
The Frog team secured a 4-0 victory over their Kilbarchan counterparts with Leon Wellman and Reynier van Rensburg (Jnr) winning their match 3/2 and KP Smith and Rob Streak easy 4/2 victors to get their season off to a good start. Saturday’s Club competition, played in the 4 BBBS format, saw 19 players competing with the pairing of Sibusiso Sithole and Jo Khumalo winning the day on a count out from Aaron Mbatha and John Zulu after both pairings finished on 42 points.
Five players recorded a 2 Club on the day, with Sifiso Kunene recording two, on both the 8th and 12th holes. The other players were J Khumalo on No. 4, D Catlett on No. 8, with A Mbatha and K Roets making their 2 clubs on the 12th hole.
This coming Saturday will see not only the Monthly Mug Medal competition for February but also the Mug of Mugs for 2018, so all those players who won a Mug last year are encouraged to play on Saturday.
