Dundee Team Fitness tackles obesity and unfitness

The reason for this launch was to motivate members of the DTF and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Dundee Team Fitness (DTF) recently held a welcome launch at the Battlefields’s bootcamp.
This is where members did a fitness evaluation to test the level of their fitness. Shaka Ndlovu, one of the instructors, said that: “Research on obesity indicates that 70% of obese people and those who suffer from chronic diseases are women, with that in mind my job is to make sure that women and men are motivated to live a healthy lifestyle through gym and eating healthy”. The reason for this launch was to motivate members of the DTF and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The team consists of approximately 30 members who meet at the Civic Hall Monday to Thursday for an hour from 5pm to 6pm. They is a monthly contribution that is paid by members which goes towards keeping the club running, however Shaka pleads with local business people to invest and sponsor them with equipment.

He added: “Having to run a fitness club is costly and not having enough equipment makes things  difficult at times, I hope that our local people can come through to see what we do and lend a hand where they can”.
Anyone is welcomed to join Dundee Team Fitness, the young and the old.

It was not all fun and games when members had to get down and dirty in the hopes of losing weight.
