The Northern Zone Mixed Pairs was held in Newcastle this past weekend. A total of 32 teams entered from around the zone with Dundee entering 9 teams.
Unfortunately, the much-needed rain made playing conditions difficult during the first game on Saturday morning but eventually the sun came out making playing conditions a lot more favourable. Of the 9 Dundee teams, it was Carl and Hannelie as well as dual members John Douthwaite and Noëla Dreyer who made it through to the quarter-finals which was played on Sunday morning.
Unfortunately, Carl and Hannelie could not make it through to the semi’s, however, John and Noëla advanced all the way to the final, their opposition Stephen and Samantha Shaw from Newcastle. The final was a real humdinger with both teams on 13 shots all after the 15th end was completed. A sudden death end was played and it was Stephen and Samantha who picked up one shot and therefore earned themselves the title of Zone Mixed Pairs Champions. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up, good bowling in the District playoffs.
Fedauto Business League
Love was in the air this last Thursday evening as the players and their partners were treated to a sit-down dinner after play. It was a brilliant evening, the Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who supported the dinner and for making it such a huge success. The Meyers are still in the lead with Tristar hot on their heels.
The leader board after the third and fourth games as follows: The Meyers 10 +55; Tristar 10 +27; Brokkies 8 +18; Sages 8 +10.
Two games will be played this coming Thursday.
Braai fires will be lit so bring your basket, friends and family and enjoy the evening with us. In case you forget, braai packs will be on sale at R50/pack.
Novice Singles
The Club Novice Singles takes place this coming weekend. This competition is held for the “newbies” of the Club. Good bowling to those who have entered.
