Estcourt Town Side scoops top spot on the league table

On February 10, the Estcourt Town Side played a promotional league game against Vryheid.
With the other two fixtures in the league being rained out, this was set to decide the top spot on the promotional table taking the two top sides to play in the playoffs in Pietermaritzburg on March 31 where the victors will be promoted to the Premier League.
Vryheid won the toss and elected to bat first in perfect conditions for cricket. They would soon find themselves in a heap of trouble losing both openers with the score still on zero.
Captain of the Estcourt side, Lloyd Ramdeen would team up with fellow spin bowler Trivashin, each picking up three wickets for 24 and 22 runs in six overs bowled that had the Vryheid side all out for 151 runs.
Best batsman for Vryheid was Clifford Dougherty racking up 32 runs (33) and Matthew Stride with 29 runs (33). Estcourt would only need 24 overs to chase down the score, losing only four wickets in the process.
Top batsman for Estcourt was Prenay with 42 not out (47) and Munir with a memorable 41 (32) that had two sixes leave the Vryheid grounds. Top bowler for Vryheid was Bruce Tambu taking three wickets for 67 runs in his 10 over spell.

Macksons would not be able to recover trying to catch up to the increasing run rate and this saw a sudden collapse as Aster skittled the last seven batsman out for only 18 runs; giving Aster the win by 99 runs.

They would soon regret this as Trivashin took a liking to the inconsistent bowling and racked up the highest individual score by a Colita player with an unbeaten 167 off only 66 balls hitting 11 sixes in the process.

Wembezi needing 25 runs to the over just to stay in contention would find the going tough trying to hit big and come to terms with the fiery Colita seam attack.
Amith and Suvedh struck early taking wickets in their first overs but it was all Amith in the end needing only two more overs to rack up a career-best seven wickets for only two runs in his three over spell.
Suvedh picked up the next three wickets for 0 runs and this had Wembezi all out in the sixth over for two runs giving Colita the win by 249 runs.
