Lace up for annual Comrades qualifier

The annual Battlefields Marathon, which is in its 42nd year, takes place on Saturday, March 2 this year with Harcourts Newcastle recently announcing its sponsorship of the event.
The start and finish will both be at Huttenpark Primary School, Rietbok Avenue and the race route will take athletes on the Battlefields Route past many historic sites.
Refreshment stations will be available on the route. The race is divided into three distances: the main 42.2 kilometer race begins at 6am, followed by both the 10km and 21.1km events which start at 6.15am.
Number collection will take place on March 1 at Huttenpark Primary School, from 3pm to 8pm and on the morning of the race from 5am.
Cut-off times for the Comrades Marathon qualifier is 4h50m which on the 42km route will be 11.30am (five and a half hours), and on the 21.1km route will be 9.45am (three and half hours).
Finishers will receive medals and runners can look forward to spot-prize giveaways and food stalls for their indulgence at the finish.
