Ladysmith anglers clinch Grand Challenge
The final fixture of the APL is the Closed Competition which will be held on April 13 at Sandford from Zones A to E.
The Angling Professional League (APL) held it penultimate fixture by the hosting of the AA Tours Grand Challenge between Breakwaters (Winners of the VME League) and Ladysmith Angling Clubs (Winner of Transnat Knock Out) on March 31 at Zones 3/4, Richgate Park. Much was at stake as both Breakwaters and Ladysmith AC had one silverware a piece.
After a hard day of angling, it was Ladysmith AC who prevailed scoring 56 points to Breakwaters 39 points.
Wayne Oosthuizen of Breakwaters AC was crowned as the angler of the day with 12 points, winning the red cap, an outright trophy and R200. Monty Slabbert of Breakwaters AC caught a monstrous carp which tipped the scale at 4,544kg.
The final fixture of the APL is the Closed Competition which will be held on April 13 at Sandford from Zones A to E, where all registered members of the APL will be eligible to participate and put themselves in line to win lucrative prizes and cash.
The title holders for the season:
Haroon Bosman (LAC) (Heaviest Scaled Fish – carp of 4,374kg, also winning R500); Sagie Moodley (BAC) (Heaviest Non Scaled Fish – Barbel of 5,822kg); Ashley Baijnath (SAC) (Rare Species – Kurper of 566g, winning R500 as well); Talia Boodhoo (SAC) (Junior Angler of the Year); Veruschka Boodhoo (SAC) (Lady Angler of the Year); Ronnie Rampersadh (BAC) (Senior Angler of the Year) and Sikander Amod (BAC) (Angler of the Year).
