Sun sets on current angling season

The final fixture of the APL season is a Closed Competition on April 13 at Sandford, in which all registered members of the APL are eligible to participate.

The penultimate season fixture of the Angling Professional League (APL) took place last Sunday.

During the AA Tours Grand Challenge, Breakwaters Angling Club – winner of the VME League and Ladysmith AC – winner of the Transnat Knock Out faced off at Zones 3 and 4 at Richgate Park.

This competition was fiercely contested, as club pride was at stake.

After a hard day’s angling, it was Ladysmith which prevailed, beating Breakwaters by 56 points to 39 points, despite Wayne Oosthuizen’s 12-point Angler of the Day performance.

Breakwaters’ Monty Slabbert caught the biggest carp of 4.54 kilograms.

The final fixture of the APL season is a Closed Competition on April 13 at Sandford, in which all registered members of the APL are eligible to participate.

Lucrative prizes and cash are up for grabs.

The title holders for the current angling season are:

Haroon Bosman of Ladysmith for the Heaviest Scaled Fish – carp of 4,37kg,

Sagie Moodley of Breakwaters for the Heaviest Non Scaled Fish – a barbel of 5,82kg,

Ashley Baijnath of Stillwaters for a Rare Specie Catch – a kurper of 566 grams,

Talie Boodhoo of Stillwaters is Junior Angler of the Year,

Veruschka Boodhoo of Stillwaters is the Lady Angler of the Year,

Ronnie Rampersadh of Breakwaters is the Senior Angler of the Year,

Sikander Amod of Breakwaters is the Angler of the Year.
