Tennis aces dominate the court at tourney
The learners received medals and trophies at the end of the tournament.
It was a sunny day for young tennis players participating in the Moteko Tennis Tournament, held at St Dominics Newcastle on May 11.
Learners from St Dom’s, Drakensberg Primary School and Huttenpark Primary School participated in the second annual tennis tournament.
The learners were divided into different groups, called the red, green and orange balls, where each group could showcase their individual skills and capabilities.
Curro tennis coach, Johny Msimanga explained the purpose of the tournament: “Such a tournament introduces children to competition at any early age. Tennis is important to them for their physical, emotional and social development, and they get to make new friends in the process. We are also happy the tournament has expanded from last year, as we saw more learners taking part this year.”
The learners received medals and trophies at the end of the tournament.
