Overnight camp-out a huge success for anglers

Over 47 fish of different species were caught

Umtshezi Angling Club members spent the weekend of April 1 and 2 with amazing weather and beautiful still waters for their first, very successful overnight 24-hour league event.

While calls came in of heavy thunder and rain in town, Wagendrift Dam’s waters were absolutely calm and a fisherman’s playground. Members started fishing on Saturday at 15:00 and ended 24 hours later.

Over 47 fish of different species were caught. It was ‘every man for himself’ as members hunted for the good spots.

Two massive ‘getaways’ were reported, with line-breakers, but that didn’t deter the anglers from casting for more.

The weekend ended with Anesh in first place on 29 points overall. Second place went to Kaylen on 14 points overall, and Sanjay was third with eight points.

The executive committee would like to thank all the members for a great weekend outing and say ‘get ready for the next one’.
