Another great day on the banks for angling club

Catches were few and far between, but the anglers' perseverance paid off in the end

Umtshezi Angling Club (UAC) members ‘fished off’ against ‘Fish On Line Northern Natal’ (FOL) members at Spioenkop Dam on June 11, as a mini-inter-team friendly wager.

Both clubs entered their seniors, juniors and female anglers for the fish-off. A tough day’s angling got underway at 07:30 after a quick rules briefing, with the morning temperature in the low single digits and warming up to low double digits at midday.

Catches were few and far between, but the anglers’ perseverance paid off in the end.

Taking first spot was UAC member Ahmed. Second spot went to Kalib and third place went to Mohammed, both from FOL. The first junior was Matteo of UAC and the first lady Sunitha of FOL.

Ahmed had the heaviest catch of the day; a carp weighing in at 1.93kg. Well done to all the anglers and thank you to everyone who braved the weather.
