The art of creating your own work
Lizz Meiring was mentored by the iconic Pieter-Dirk Uys on the art of creating your own work. His motto has become hers: ‘Creating your own work, means you can fully operate as an artist, an individual & a successful Arts Industry professional. It is not only a means of survival, it provides you with a choice as to how you want your career to develop.’
This workshop looks at practical & realistic ways of every aspect of creating your own work – from intellectual copyright, to creating the actual production, to budgeting, sponsorship, media releases, marketing & publicity, performance venues, lighting, sound & other technical aspects, procuring costumes, sets, props, creating a production that can tour, collaboration, venue contracts, booking agents & much more.

2016 Spring Festival at Garden World
‘Leap into Spring’
July 29 to September 4
Leap into spring at Garden World’s annual Spring Festival that sets out to inspire gardeners with award winning designer gardens, from Friday July 29 until Sunday September 4.
This year, 21 gardens (the most ever) will compete for best on show and this includes the work of 12 landscapers who are participating for the first time.
Internationally recognised designers Ray Hudson and David Davidson have once again designed this year’s Kirstenbosch South Africa Chelsea Exhibit and this will be re-created by them at Garden World.
There will be an even greater emphasis on water wise gardening this year, with display gardens from Rand Water, and Sanbi’s, Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.
The spring festival programme of talks includes the ever-popular Margaret Roberts on herbs, a mother and child flower arranging workshop with Interflora, trendy ways to upcycle and recycle, and a morning of music and garden mayhem with Tanya Visser, Richard Cock and Paul Vonk, of Mayford Seeds presenting ‘In Tune With Nature’.
Other annual attractions at the festival are the school gardens, children’s box gardens, and floral exhibits of the Gauteng Flora Union and Interflora.
Garden World is on Beyers Naudé Drive in Muldersdrift. For information on the Spring Festival and booking for the talks, workshops and music contact Magriet / Corné on 011 957 2545 /011 956 3003 or 083 997 6142.
