FOURWAYS – Montecasino plays host to the Oyster, Wine and Food Festival 2015.
Montecasino undertook the gargantuan task of hosting the Oyster, Wine and Food Festival 2015 between 29 and 31 May.
The 10th event of its kind in Fourways has been crowned as one of Gauteng’s largest oyster festivals. The festival delivered thousands of succulent oysters from Knysna. A total of 300 different wines from 32 wine estates were also present with gourmet food offered by about 30 exhibitors.
The event offered guests the opportunity to sample diverse and interesting wines, beer and bubbly on offer paired with fresh, succulent oysters. Of the most notable concoctions offered was oysters dressed up with lemon, black pepper and Tabasco, while other combinations offered something a tad more tangy such as onion vinaigrette. Freshly grilled prawns were also available for famished festival-goers.
Organiser at the festival Riaan Visagie was impressed with the large turnout of visitors at the festival. “The event has been a roaring success. It was important for the festival to associate with [the] brand of Montecasino as Gauteng’s premier entertainment venue,” he said.
Visagie explained that the food and wine tents made a great impact, adding that extra appeal to the festival. “The amount of different food and wines available at the festival was phenomenal. And it really added something special to the day’s proceedings,” he said.
