Bins overflow as staff demand transport
Pavements are overflowing with wheelie bins that have been left behind by Pikitup for the last week.

Pikitup spokesperson Desiree Ntshingila said, “Pikitup is aware that refuse has not been collected in certain areas due to labour relations matters, pertaining to transport issues by Pikitup workers.”
She mentioned that the go-slow is still underway and has resulted in an illegal strike as worker’s demand transport to and from work. In the previous court ruling that took place the judge ruled in favour of Pikitup to not continue providing transport as it was a practice done in the past which did not form part of the condition of employment for Pikitup staff.
Ntshingila concluded, “Pikitup has put contingency plans in place to collect the back log on 6 and 7 July in order to ensure that all rounds for the week are completed.”
