Spesbona Road was one of the roads in Bloubosrand with the most potholes.
According to Ward 96 councillor Matome Mafokwane the street had been like that for the past two years.
Mafokwane said, “Residents sent reference numbers for years and I kept applying pressure to Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), but nothing was done about the situation for years.”
He was happily surprised then when JRA fixed the entire road on 7 June.
Roads agency spokesperson Mosa Makhalima said, “One of the reasons why we took so long is re-tarring a road such as Spesbona takes a lot of time and JRA had to attend to smaller roads in the area first.
Our contractors will be finished with the road markings before the end of June.”
Mafokwane concluded, “Motorists in the area will now be able to drive safely here. I want to thank the Roads Agency team for helping out the community.”
