Thieves rob Miss Lira’s home

Opening for R Kelly earlier this week was meant to be one of many career highlights for Lerato Molapo, aka Miss Lira

But after attending a Women’s Day function Molape and her husband returned home at about midnight to find thieves hard at work stealing her hard won South African Music Award (SAMA) statuettes.

Molapo opened for R&B sensation R Kelly earlier this week. He is touring South Africa as part of his Single Ladies tour. The tour was slated to happen in March but was postponed to August, apparently because local promoter AfroPulse Entertainment needed more time to organise logistics.

After the concert, fan Miranda Tshifhiwa tweeted to Miss Lira, ‘I really enjoyed your performance last night at the R Kelly Concert. You make me proud to be a South African’.

A tweet by Molapo says it all, “My house was robbed last night. 10 of my SAMA statuettes were taken along with so many other valuables. So heartbroken :( ‘.
