“Why has Olivedale been without water since yesterday afternoon?” asked Tim Evans on the Randburg Sun BBM news service.
According to Johannesburg Water spokesperson Millicent Kabwe the affected pipe is under a massive boulder and earth moving equipment has to be brought in.
“The team is on site and has closed water and will begin repairs. Please note the burst happened under a very large rock in the veld and we are arranging for the relevant machinery and materials to remove the rock,” said Kabwe.
The areas affected include:
- Olivedale Clinic
- BP garage (Windsor Way)
- Kiwi Place
- Meadowbrooke Business Park
“We will be sending out water tanks to the points above for a temporary supply of water,” said Kabwe.
