Craighall Primary School hosted their very first choir festival in an effort to raise awareness of the Abigail Kubeka Music Instrument Project.

According to the school’s principal, Andrea Prout Jones, the school was lucky to have a connection with legend songstress, Abigail

Kubeka who was very willing to share her musical skills with the school. “Abigail Kubeka is a legend in the music industry. Her project was a great idea to motivate the pupils to give back,” said one of the choir director’s, Gladwin Brown. The choir festival included other talented schools and included IR Griffith Primary, Montrose Primary School, Saxonwold Primary and Bryneven Primary.

Kubeka entertained the audience with her famous songs, Pata pata and Medolens, backed by the angelic voices of the Craighall choir. “I am very pleased with the talent that is here tonight. My project is fairly new, tonight will mark the beginning of its journey. I plan on getting a lot of other schools involved with my project,” said Kubeka.

Jones said the event was a great success and the school would do it bigger and better next year. “We have created a platform for the choir to have something because they have hardly ever

had the chance to shine,” said Jones. Brown added, “The reason why our school produces quality music is because we have such a supportive school.”
