Paying for no security
A resident is furious after he discovered he had been paying for 18 months for no security.
Olivedale resident, Wayne Laubscher thought his home was secure as he was paying his monthly security premium.
However, in July Laubscher discovered his security contract had been cancelled in January last year. Laubscher said, “All this time we paid Top Security and we actually had no protection. My youngest son was born the same time the premium was cancelled without our knowledge.”
The contract with the security company was in the name of his mother-in-law. He did not know why his contact was cancelled and the family wanted their money back.
“For 18 months we paid for a service we never received, but now it is a battle to get hold of them. When I first informed the company about this, they said ‘yes, we will refund you’, and three days later I did not hear anything so I phoned back.
“They then told me they need to investigate first. Now it has been a four-month struggle to get hold of the relevant people.”
He added that Top Security CEO Kenneth Carr was never available. “My cellphone bills show how many times I have called him.”
The Laubscher family has signed up with a different security company.
Carr responded and said Laubscher was not Top Security’s client but his mother-in-law was. The company would pay the money back once the investigation was completed.
