Maths marathon winners celebrate

The Mathematics Marathon winning team celebrated their victory at the Golden Spear Spur, and another marathon is underway.

K2U Learning Systems in Randburg and the pupils of Kingsway School celebrated their Mathematics Marathon victory.

Flight Centre sponsored the participation of the school and the winner’s prize was Spur vouchers. On the day of the marathon 10 pupils from five different schools were selected to participate. The schools were Risidale Primary School, Kingsway School, Emmarentia Primary School, Robin Hills Primary and Randpark Primary School.

The participants had to learn a 100 percent competency in times tables within a matter of hours. Event organisers Greg Shapiro and Eugene Lubbe thanked the various parties that contributed to the marathon.

Another Mathematics Marathon is planned for 7 December at the premises of Rainbow FM in Florida, Roodepoort. “Through broadcast on Rainbow FM we aim to get 100 pupils together to participate on the day,” said Lubbe of K2U Learning Systems.
