NPO calls on the community OR Plea to support NPO

Charity providing child protection services needs your help.

Linden-based non-profit organisation (NPO) Christelike Maatskaplike Raad (CMR) renders child protection services to vulnerable children in the Randburg and Cosmo City communities.

They are currently in need of funds and would like to set up a community and company challenge in the Randburg area and request companies to provide sponsorship for their client’s therapeutic treatment.

“The trauma these children have experienced makes immediate therapeutic intervention a priority. Our clients rarely have enough funds to cover this important part of the process. Sadly as an NPO we cannot afford the additional costs associated with assessment and therapy for our clients,” CMR’s administrative office manager Alet Geldenhuys explained.

Part of the intervention includes attending to the children’s psychological needs, which costs roughly R6 600 per child per month.

CMR social worker Kristen Randall said, “The children we work with have been though a lot of distress due to the family conditions they were born into. Often they feel powerless against the abuse inflicted on them. Their world is dominated by fear and shame. As social workers we work hard to make sure the children feel whole again.”

“Support from the community and local companies will mean that every child who is found to be in need of care and protection receives psychological assessment and therapy as part of their healing process,” Geldenhuys said.
