Public toilets blocked

The Randburg Taxi Rank has had blocked toilets for over a year and the problem has slowly becoming worse.

The public toilets at the Randburg Taxi Rank have become difficult for the cleaners to maintain.

According to the taxi rank’s property manager Johannes Rammala, the public toilets have been blocked since the beginning of 2013. Several plumbing services had come to repair the toilets, but shortly afterwards the toilets returned to their previous state.

”In the women’s bathrooms three toilets are out of order and are constantly blocked. The cleaners have to clean the mess every second day. The city council has promised to fix the toilets, but these are always empty promises,” explained Rammala.

When contacted about the issue, Joburg Water spokesperson Millicent Kabwe said the Department of Housing is responsible. The Department of Housing is yet to respond.
