Stolen Telkom cable recovered
Thieves flee the scene when found to be in possession of stolen Telkom cable.
A stolen Telkom cable was found on the back of a truck after a Telkom employee caught the culprits red-handed on the corner of Bram Fischer Drive and Dalmeny Road in Pine Park.
According to Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Ndivhuwo Mulamu the employee noticed the suspicious truck and tried to approach it. The truck driver is suspected to have fled in a private car with his four accomplices.
The five suspects had stolen the cable from a nearby Telkom manhole on Bram Fischer Drive. Linden police were investigating the matter.
“It is illegal to steal cable,” said Mulamu. “There are serious repercussions should one be found stealing cable. If anyone sees people stealing cable they should report it at their nearest police station.”
