Blairgowrie hall restored
First Blairgowrie Scouts give the Scout Hall a much needed upgrade.
First Blaigowrie Scouts have been up and about occupied with the restoration of the Scout Hall on Windeena Road in Blairgowrie.
“A Springbok Scout badge is awarded to scouts who identify a need in the community and then put in the required elbow grease,” committee member Sue Quadling.
“The Scout plans a solution and leads a patrol in meeting that need, and the service project requires at least 40 hours of involvement by the scout and his patrol,” she added.
After scout James Goodhead identified the need to upgrade and maintain the hall, the scouts assembled to rewire and run electrical cables and conduit to a sign board.
They also constructed retainers to combat soil erosion, cleared drains to facilitate water runoff, sanded and varnished doors, replaced lights and fitted a new manhole cover.
With this facelift, the Scout Hall is ready to be put to good use.
