JOBURG - The weekend is here and we give you the five best places to tap into this weekend in the city of gold.

1. Eskom Expo happening at Coca-Cola Dome.

Join the Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo organised by Thebe Reed Exhibitions at the Coca-Cola Dome which is presented in partnership with Eskom from 11 until 14 September. The exhibition is Africa’s premier platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and business investors to gain access to the most innovative and lucrative business opportunities currently available on the continent. From 9am to 5pm.

2. 94.7 Joburg Day

The Joburg Day is finally here, music enthusiasts will be entertained at the Crocodile Creek Polo Club in Johannesburg on 13 September. This is a one-day music explosion that promises the best performers in the country and fans will have a chance to have a picnic with friends and family while listerning to their favourites. Joburg Day will be featuring Jeremy Loops, Mafikizolo, Matthew Mole, Monark Shortstraw, Beatenberg and Session 2: (1:30pm) Lochville, Mi Casa, Prime Circle, Van Coke Kartel Session 3: (5:10pm) AKA, DJ Kent, Gangs of Ballet, Goldfish Pascal and Pearce

3. Douglasdale Fun Run

The Douglasdale CPF invites community members to come join in their annual Fun Run that takes place at Cooper College in Jukskei Park on 14 September..

The event will be held at Cooper College in Jukskei Park. Community members can look forward to fabulous prizes as well as food stalls and a kiddies corner for parents who want a safe place for their children to play while they go run.

4. Teatro Casino

The casino promises its thrilling spectacle of circus arts and urban dance never seen before in this country as Cirque Eloize’s iD heads to South Africa for the first time on 14 September at the Teatro Casino in Montecasino. The circus arts will be directed by Jeannot Painchaud, iD is a high-energy production and will showcase blending acrobatics, street dance and hip-hop. iD features a cast of 15 acrobats and performers, and incorporates innovative multimedia elements, as well as a rock and electronica-inspired soundtrack created by composers Jean-Phi Goncalves and Alex McMahon.

5. ijusi – Design based in African Experience

Join the Wits Art Museum at their ijusi exhibition – a design based in African Experience on 14 September.

Garth Walker’s ijusi magazine is an experimental, non-commercial design magazine that encourages and promotes a visual design language rooted in South African experience. Drawing from all 29 issues of ijusi, the exhibition focuses on the question which ijusi has posed from the beginning which is “What makes me African, and what does that ‘look’ like?”
