Update: Police investigate driver of overturned taxi

ROBINDALE – Linden Police investigate as driver flees after taxi flips and injures one.

Linden Police are now investigating a case involving a driver whose taxi overturned on the corner of Bram Fischer Drive and Boundary Road, Robindale, on 14 September.

Initial reports from Metro Police on scene said that six people were injured and a case of reckless and negligent driving, and leaving the scene of an accident, would soon be opened with Linden Police.

Now, Linden Police spokesperson Constable Carol Mulamu has confirmed that only one woman was injured, and who has since been discharged from Helen Joseph Hospital.

Also, although she said that the suspect fled the scene, the case only involves an allegation of reckless and negligent driving on a public road, and not leaving the scene of an accident.

“It is alleged that the taxi driver lost control of his taxi and it overturned,” she said.

“No arrest has been made yet, police are still conducting their investigation on the matter.”
