Facebook, Tinder and Instagram down all at once
JOBURG – Users worldwide were experiencing issues connecting to Facebook and Instagram, both on the Web and via mobile Apps.
Regular social media users missed out on their morning fix as Instagram, Tinder and Facebook went offline.
Visitors to Facebook were greeted by the message “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can. Go Back” or came accross “Cannot find server”
Facebook went live again after about an hour of being out of service.
It is not clear what caused the outage, which first occurred around 8am.
However, Facebook-owned mobile messaging service WhatsApp was running as usual.
According to The Telegraph, an outage in New York could be related to the current blizzard, where the social network’s servers are located.
Users took to Twitter to express their thoughts on this rare occurrence.
Reuben Goldberg said “Facebook down, virtually no impact on traffic.”
Justine Pole said “Facebook and Instagram are down. Whole world comes to twitter to complain about it.”
Janelle Shanks said “So Facebook and Instagram are down, and we all gather on twitter. What happens when twitter goes down? Myspace revival?”.
