Shootout in FERNDALE
FERNDALE– Two suspects were injured during a shootout with the police along Bram Fischer Drive, on 27 January around 3:30 pm.
Two suspects were injured during a shootout with police along Bram Fischer Drive, and two others were arrested by the Randburg Police.
According to the media statement from the police, members of Flying squad arrested four suspects aged between 27 and 33, and two unlicensed firearms were confiscated.
It stated that the members of Flying were on routine patrol when they picked up a tracker signal on Bram Fischer Drive. The police made a U-turn to follow the suspected vehicle with four occupants. The suspects noticed, and tried to flee.
A high-speed chase ensued on Bram Fischer Drive, until the suspects drove into the Randburg City. Realising that they were cornered, they jumped out the vehicle. One suspect had a firearm and a shootout ensued during which two suspects were wounded. Two other suspects were arrested and two unlicensed firearms were recovered. The vehicle in which the suspects were driving was stolen on the 21 January in Olifantsfontein.
“One suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen and is in a critical condition. The other suspect sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and leg and is in a moderate condition,” said spokesperson for Emer-G-Med, Danielle Dooley
Emer-G-Med transported the critically injured patient to hospital under police guard. Other injured suspects was transported by police.
