UPDATE, Linden Police give chase

FERNDALE – UPDATE: on the Sharon Lea car chase on 24 January.

A car chase ensued between the Linden SAPS and a Jetta during the early hours of 24 January in Ferndale. See previous story.

More details have now come to light.

According to Constable Carol Mulamu, spokesperson for Linden Police Station, the Linden SAPS vehicle was patrolling in the area around Main

Avenue in Ferndale.

It was then at about 11pm on 23 January that the police spotted the suspicious vehicle.

It gave chase to the Jetta for about an hour.

When the car chase approached the intersection of President Fouché and Malibongwe drives, the vehicle drove through a JMPD road block.

It was then that the vehicle hit a police van.

Captain Alex Vermaak of Linden SAPS commented, ”The Linden SAPS fired off a warning shot. The suspect has been arrested in the early hours of 24 January by the Honeydew SAPS for negligent driving and running away from the police.”
