“Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue units and other services arrived at the scene and found crumpled remains of a motor vehicle lodged against a tree,” Steinman said.

“It is believed that the motor vehicle left the roadway, crashed against a wall and then crashed and lodged against a tree.”

Netcare 911’s rescue unit and City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) used the jaws-of-life to free the two occupants.

The occupants received medical attention. “One was found to have sustained serious injuries and the driver was found to have sustained critical injuries,” Steinman explained.

They were transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.
