Faulty traffic light causes accident

RANDBURG – Faulty traffic light at corner Kent and Harley causes traffic confusion.

Two vehicles collided on the corner of Kent Avenue and Harley Street on 25 March as a result of a faulty traffic light.

According to eyewitness Vincent Chauke from Randburg Management District, the accident between a white Mercedes Benz and a black VW Golf GTI occurred as a result of the broken traffic light facing the wrong direction, leaving motorists confused.

“The traffic light has been like this for more than a week now and [more than one] accident has happened here because of the traffic light,” he said.

“We have logged a complaint but because of the JRA strike, no one is responding.”

Debra Maclennan, who works in a building overlooking the intersection, said she is always nervous when she approaches the intersection.

“It is a bad intersection. In the past three weeks, there have been four accidents at the same place. The robot is always hanging and I get nervous all the time,” Maclennan said.

There were no injuries reported.
