Five injured in North Riding

NORTH RIDING – Taxi overturns, throwing man outside, causing injuries.

Five people were injured in an accident on Olievenhout Avenue, North Riding, on the evening of 19 April.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer Santi Steinman explained that various emergency response services arrived at the scene and found that a minibus and motor vehicle were involved in a side-impact collision. The minibus had overturned and came to a standstill on its side.

“Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found a man in critical condition after he was ejected from the minibus,” Steinman said.

“The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured man to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.” The other four occupants of the minibus sustained serious injuries during the rollover. They were treated by paramedics on scene before being transported to hospital for further care.
