Another elderly man is robbed in Randburg

HURLINGHAM – Elderly man robbed at gunpoint.

An elderly man was robbed at gunpoint by three men only footsteps away from his home on 14 May at 9.30pm.

Acting Station Commander for Randburg, Colonel Andries Odendaal has confirmed that a case of robbery has been laid at the Randburg Police Station and urges anyone with information to come forward.

An elderly resident of Hurlingham was walking home in the evening at around 9.30pm.

Seemingly unaware, three males approached him and one was wielding the gun.

During a confrontation, the men demanded jewellery from the man. After robbing him, they forced him into his nearby residence.

At the gate of his home, it was a blessing, as his wife happened to see this terrible intrusion happening.

She immediately pressed the panic button, the alarm went off.

“The three male suspects then ran away – only escaping with the man’s jewellery,” said Col Odendaal.

It would appear that incidents of crime involving edlerly people are on the rise.
