Robin Hills swimming pool renovations on hold
ROBIN HILLS – Jozi@work project has been delayed due to a lack of materials.
On 29 April the City of Johannesburg afforded 14 unemployed community members of Windsor an opportunity to work on the Robin Hills swimming pool. Their mandate was to upgrade and renovate the swimming pool over two weeks. (See previous story).
However, this has been fruitless since they [community members] have had to stop work to wait for the relevant materials to arrive from the City of Joburg.
Bravo Enterprise was appointed the tender to commence work on the swimming pool. “I am extremely disappointed that we have had to wait for the material. Everyone was looking forward to commencing work and completing the project. We only worked on site for three days then we had to stop. The City has said we should receive materials on 26 May so I hope it does happen so we can continue,” said chairperson of Bravo Enterprise Joy Mathebula.
Ward 98 councillor Laurette van Zijl expressed her dismay at the fact that the project had been put on hold. “I am very unhappy about this. I know for a fact that Bravo Enterprise employees were looking forward to working. This will be followed up by me,” promised van Zijl.
Previously, Bravo employee Naledi Mathebula had stated that the appointment had uplifted her. Now, however, she expressed her frustration that the project has come to a halt. “I am not happy but I am also grateful that the City has communicated with us about getting materials,” added Mathebula.
