RANDBURG – Competitors make tasty potjies in order to raise money for CHOC.
The Pirates Sports and Rugby Club held their annual potjiekos competition on 6 June at the club in 4th Avenue.
Hayley Illing from the club said, “We hosted the day to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) and we had various teams of four that competed against each other.”
She added that each team had to pick a country from anywhere across the world and base their potjie and décor on that country.
“It was easy to see why the first place went to a team called the Italian Team, second place went to the Bikers Team and in third place went to the Toyota Team,” added Illing.
“The special prize for best overall effect went to the Indian Team who performed an Indian dance before serving their delicious potjie. All proceeds went to CHOC and I have to thank everyone that came out to support us,” concluded Illing.
