GALLERY and VIDEO: 67 minutes at Randburg SPCA

NORTH RIDING – SPCA Randburg gets lots of help from volunteers for Nelson Mandela Day.

Fluffy friends of the SPCA Randburg had some helping hands from volunteers for Nelson Mandela Day.

Where some people chose to clean parks, visit the elderly or donate to children’s homes, others decided to keep our abandoned furry friends happy. “It was not all about playing with cute dogs and cats today, we worked really hard for Mandela Day,” said one volunteer.

Physical labour was the phrase of the day for volunteers and staff at the SPCA. The huge food container was unpacked and then repacked in a logical order. “We asked for help with this task because, thanks to all the wonderful donations of animal food we have gotten, it is often hard to keep track of all the different brands,” said SPCA Randburg Kennel manager Leigh de Beaufort.

Volunteers also took post in the charity and book store which was highly supported. Toys were on sale outside of the Randburg SPCA for all those wishing to treat their dogs or cats. “We are so appreciative for all the time that was volunteered to our SPCA, the staff and animals are eternally grateful,” added SPCA Randburg general manager Craig Rudman.
